summer recap part one

well this is daunting.
turns out once you get behind on blogging it takes a lot of time to get caught up.
i've already covered some highlights but missed lots of other parts.
so where to start...

i guess right here:
we spent lots of time at grama and papa's.
summertime is like heaven over there. plus papa gives the
best piggy back rides around.

lots of time at parks with friends.

lots of time with his best girl, avery.

lots of time at nana and papa's.
they're even more fun than disneyland.

lots of time supporting our iron man.
just another dip in the pond after a 100 mile bike ride.

lots of time being silly.

a little time at the salon.
the very first haircut. it was traumatic.
(for the momma. the baby... not even phased)

not enough time with the high school besties and kiddos.
but we'll take what we can get,

who knew..

louisville, kentucky is cool.
like a 1920's southern glamour kind of cool.
being there felt kinda like going back in time. i kept picturing myself wearing big hats and fancy dresses at the kentucky derby and going to dinner and dancing at the brown hotel and baseball games at slugger field.
and i liked it all. a lot.

and in real life, rob did the louisville ironman and finished 10th in his age division.
{and he even got a flat tire on the ride}
that man of mine is one exceptional athlete!
and my favorite travel buddy.
the ohio river, the morning of the race.

my ironman.

the first and only in the world,
underground zipline and challenge bridge course.

churchill downs, home of the kentucky derby.

bardstown and baxter. my favorite area of the city.

cave hill cemetery

the muhammad ali center

thanks for showing us such a good time louisville.
and just so you know, we'll be back.

we hunt.

well, they hunt.
actually the big one is a hunter, the little one is just a hunter in the making
and i just have to pretend not to hate it so i don't get left behind.
last weekend was the bow opener. or deer opener. or some kind of opener for hunting something.
and so we went.
hunting boots- check. binky- check. helmet- check. safety first!

love these faces.

heaven for these two.

his first bow.

yep, i have one too.
so i can pretend to fit in.

just wearing our hunting shoes.
{one of these things is not like the others}

hunting is exhausting.
truth be told, i do hate hunting. but i love camping and i love to be with my boys and i love a weekend full of watching their blissfully happy faces.
so i guess kind of, a little tiny bit, maybe i do like hunting.

and now he's 2.

so we had a little birthday party in midway.
he was super excited.

i whipped up this little fudge mint cake from scratch. no big deal.
{that might not be entirely true. i mean i live right by a schmidt's bakery
and they make good cakes, so why try.}

cutest little monkeys in the world.

yep, he got a rifle.
i'm pretty sure i'm already losing the 'charlie's not gonna be a hunter too' battle.
but truthfully, i'm not fighting very hard.
i think it's inevitable.
this kid is his dad's son!

side note: i was so obsessed with taking pictures of charlie and the twins that i didn't get any pictures of grandma, papa, nana, grandpa, aunt tee, aunt nat, or ben kronk.
but they were all there and all the reasons the party was so much fun.
so thank you for being there guys, next time you have a birthday party, you can not take pictures of me, then we'll be even.
